Events

• The Spaniards conquer the Aztec Empire.
• August 13: Tenochtitlan, Mexico is destroyed by the Spanish, who return with an army of Indians who oppose the Aztecs, who are defeated after disease claims most of them in the city, after which Tenochtitlan gets destroyed.
• The Aztec Empire comes apart under the command of Hernando Cortés. They stop controlling large part of Central America.
• Mexico City is founded by Spaniards on the remains of Tenochtitlan.
• Mexico becomes a Spanish colony.
