Jones in 1957.
- Harold Oxley finds the Crystal Skull of Akator in Nazca and travels to Akator to return the skull to the Temple of Akator. Unable to enter the temple, he returns to Nazca and hides the skull again. Thereafter, he is captured by Soviet Special Forces.
- Marion Ravenwood receives an cryptic letter from Harold Oxley and travels to Peru to look after him. She gets caught by the Soviet Special Forces as well but they let her escape long enough so that she can send a letter that includes a note by Oxley to her son Mutt Williams. She is then recaptured.
- In Hangar 51, Soviet colonel Irina Spalko forces archaeologist Indiana Jones at to help her find the Roswell remains stored here. After a fight, Jones escapes and makes it to Doom Town where he barely manages to survive an atomic bomb test.
- Indiana Jones is interrogated by the FBI agents Smith and Taylor and thereafter suspended from teaching at Marshall College in Bedford, Connecticut.
- Mutt Williams shows Oxley's letter to Jones who deciphers the cryptic message. The two travel to Peru and find the Crystal Skull in Chauchilla Cemetery where they are also captured by the Soviet Special Forces.
- During the Jungle Chase in Brazil, Indiana Jones, Marion Ravenwood, Mutt Williams, and Harold Oxley escape the Soviet Special Forces. They reach Akator and return the crystal skull.
- Akator is destroyed and the valley flooded with the waters of a nearby river when interdimensional beings take off with their ship.
- September: In a letter to Indiana Jones, Short Round claims to have tracked the Peacock's Eye to Hawaii.
- October 18: Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood get married.[1][2]
