Locomotive 528079 was stationed in eastern France in 1944 and was given the task of pulling a train responsible for transporting Nazi plunder from a nearby castle.
History[]
528079 hauled a lengthy train through eastern France, which consisted of many militarized carriages. At the very trailing end was a weaponry carriage with an AA Gun, and what seemed to be a howitzer artillery piece. Moving forward was more carriages with what probably stored equipment, and loot. Eventually after that was the sleeping quarters, carriages fitted out with suspended beds. Further on you would reach the dining car which was fitted out with a small kitchen, tables & seats where Schutzstaffel soldiers would consume food. Further on was a clean, well decorated carriage where Oberarzt Jürgen Voller and Colonel Weber would work. Further on was another weaponry carriage, equipped with another AA Gun. A few more what were most likely storage carriages after that and then followed the engine and its coal tender.
In 1944, Indiana Jones found himself on the train and a major fight took place.
Behind the scenes[]
The real locomotive used for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was a British Railways Standard Class 9F 92134.[1]
Part of the Nazi plunder train interior in the movie was based on the Führersonderzug, Adolf Hitler's wartime train.[2]
