A. Bandelier was an archaeologist who was credited in Indiana Jones' journal for sketching the map to the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors.
Biography[]
Mapping Chachapoyas[]
In 1893, A. Bandelier mapped the region of Chachapoyas, Peru following the explorations made by Juan Crisostomo Nieto's 1843 expedition, noting the presence of a "head hunter village".[1]
Legacy[]
Indiana Jones used A. Bandelier's work, held in New Mexico, for his own research into the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors when approached by Marcus Brody to find a fertility idol.[1][2]
Behind the scenes[]
The Lost Journal of Indiana Jones stating that Bandelier drew the map to the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors[1] creates a continuity error with the Raiders of the Lost Ark Sourcebook, which attributes the map to an explorer named McHenry.[3]
