Flying over the Himalayas

Air East Asia was a Chinese airline company. They operated flights around Asia and the Middle East. Their planes were marked with the airline's name in both English and Chinese.

In 1936, Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood used "Air East Asia" to travel from Nepal to Cairo, Egypt, via Karachi, India and Baghdad, Iraq.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Footage of the aircraft was borrowed from the 1973 film Lost Horizon starring Peter Finch.

Air East Asia, as a 1930s airline, appears to be fictional. However, in 2006, a real airline service with the name "Air East Asia" began offering service to Bangladesh.
