The alicorn was a unicorn horn.
In 1928, Indiana Jones discovered an alicorn adapted into a staff which possessed magical powers. The horn section was milky white ivory, and the hilt was made of silver, in the shape of a twin-headed eagle.
Powers[]
The person who possessed the alicorn would have supernatural strength and would be able to gain influence rapidly, forming a quick base of power. As a relic of protection, it could allow the user to pass through any gate connecting the interior world to the surface world without suffering the dangerous effects of gate travel. It could also be used to summon the Unicorn's Gate, one such portal.[1]
Adventures with the Alicorn[]
In 1928, Indiana Jones found the alicorn. Feeling that its power should not be used by mankind, he decided to leave it in the ruins at Hovenweep, Utah, at the entrance of the Channels of Paradise on the autumnal equinox and then seal the entryway with dynamite. [2]
But on the other side of the rocks, the gate to the Channels of Paradise had opened, connecting the interior world with the outside world. Maleiwa came through the portal, grabbed the alicorn, and returned to the interior world, just as the dynamite exploded, killing his two lieutenants. Salandra witnessed this event, and learned from Great Mother Rhea that the artifact contained power, and that to stop Maleiwa, only a person who had previously wielded the alicorn could take it from him. She then began searching for that person - Indiana Jones.[1]
Meanwhile, Maleiwa used the alicorn to gain total control of Wayua, and would keep the alicorn mounted above his desk in his his castle. He plotted to use the alicorn to travel to the surface world and form the Invisible Alliance with Adolf Hitler. Maleiwa would get Nazi scientists to synthesize a substitute for nalca so that his army could stay on the surface world. Hitler would be given the alicorn to help in his rise to power. Then combining their military might, Maleiwa and Hitler could conquer the world. Finally, Maleiwa would betray his ally and dominate the world on his own with his army.[1]
In early 1929, Maleiwa took rulership of Pincoya, and had learned that Jones was the only one who could strip him of the alicorn. In September, he sensed that Jones had emerged onto the surface world, and took his warriors with him to force their way through the gate in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta mountains, near the Kogi outpost. On the other side, he and his men scoured the mountain for Jones until he sensed that Jones had returned to the interior world. Returning to Wayua, Maleiwa decided to move forward with his plan to go to the surface world to meet with Hitler. Dressing in surface clothes, he rode off with three warriors, using the alicorn to help summon and find the Unicorn's Gate. While his men got attacked by unicorns who came to rescue Jones, Salandra, and Vicard, he slipped through the gate with the magical staff.[1]
Arriving on top of the Statue of Liberty, Maleiwa tried to find a way down, when Jones came through the portal. Using the alicorn as a spear, he lunged several times at Jones. Jones was able to wrest the alicorn away from Maleiwa, but slipped down the statue's face. Not wanting to lose the weapon, Maleiwa tried to reach for the alicorn. Jones threw the alicorn and it shattered against the statue's tablet. Without the alicorn to give him strength or protection from the effects of passing through the gate, Maleiwa weakened, and trying one last time to get Jones, he fell off the statue to his doom.[1]
