History[]
In 1930, Tarkiz Belem was killed at the American Museum of Natural History while saving Indiana Jones' life from an electromechanical kodiak bear.[1]
The decade also saw Marcus Brody keep an office there.
During the mayorship of Fiorello LaGuardia, the Al Amir jewel was stolen by Nicholas Scorzen before its unveiling at the museum.[2]

Behind the scenes[]
Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Sphinx author Max McCoy originally intended to include the American Museum of Natural History in a physical capacity in his book by having a time travel sequence where Indiana Jones would have exited from the Temple of the Serpent to the Museum in the New York City of the then-contemporary 1990s. Lucasfilm Ltd. asked for the sequence's removal, causing it to lose a few chapters in the finished version.[3] In the published book, the American Museum of Natural History is only mentioned.[4]
