Arachnophobia is the scientific name for the fear of spiders and other arachnids.
Mel and his partner, two of Busby Giles' men, were afraid of tarantulas, a phobia that the American archaeologist Indiana Jones took advantage in 1936 while trying to rescue Lucy Giles from a Hopi cave in Arizona, throwing a bag full of tarantulas at the armed pair of men, distracting them long enough for Jones to knock them out.[1]
Mutt Williams was also arachnophobic, as he was scared that a scorpion would climb on his body and sting him, thinking he was going to die until Indiana Jones told him that the bigger a scorpion is less lethal it is.[2]
