"Archaeology 223" was an upper division archaeology course offered at Marshall College. In 1936, it was taught by Professor Henry Jones, Jr. and part of the class involved a field expedition to a Hopi cave in Arizona.
Students in that field trip included:
The expedition left Arizona early, a day after a near scorpion attack on Lucy Giles, a rock slide that nearly killed Warren and Professor Jones, and a stern warning from armed men claiming to be from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. After a night at the nearby town to get some ice cream, the students packed up and, with Joel and Eva driving, headed to Tucson while Jones tried to rescue Lucy Giles.
