A Chinese man became the father of Archie Tan, the eventual owner of Tan's Exotic Imports. He had peculiar speech patterns his son affectionally noticed and led him to consciously adopt a Chinese accent to honor him despiste living in San Francisco, the United States of America.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Archie Tan's father was only mentioned in Rob MacGregor's unpublished novelization of the Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings video game. In MacGregor's manuscript, as a means to expand on Tan's backstory.[1] The game itself has no references at all to Archie's relatives other than his granddaughter Suzie,[2] and given how Indycron keeper Leland Chee stated during an interview with TheRaider.net in 2010 that a copy of MacGregor's completed manuscript never reached him,[3] it's unclear how much, if any, information about Archie Tan's father is part of the Indiana Jones canon.
