The grandparents of Tan's Exotic Imports owner and antiques dealer Archie Tan emigrated from China to San Francisco, United States of America during the California Gold Rush. They eventually had a son, who gave them their grandson Archie, who in turn gave them a great-granddaughter through whom Suzie was a great-great-granddaughter.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Archie Tan's grandparents were only mentioned in Rob MacGregor's unpublished novelization of the Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings video game, as a means to expand on the background of their grandson.[1] The game itself has no references at all to Archie's relatives other than his granddaughter Suzie,[2] and given how Indycron keeper Leland Chee stated during a 2010 interview with TheRaider.net that a copy of MacGregor's completed manuscript never reached him,[3] it's unclear how much, if any, information about Archie's grandparents is part of the Indiana Jones canon.
