The Atomic Cafe was an establishment in the Nevada desert.[1] An old diner with missile-shaped neon sign,[2] it was located on a remote highway near the turn-off to a military facility[1] and served the soldiers who visited the cafe on occasion where Maxie was an employee.[3] Its served breakfast, lunch and dinner and was open 24 hours.[1] It had an adjacent gas station, the last gas for two hundred miles. A dollar's worth of gas payed for just over three gallons.[3]
In 1957,[1] on leaving the Atomic Cafe,[3] Jimmy Keegan, his girlfriend Suzie, and his friends Tommy Shiner and Lindy came across a military convoy on the road, not knowing that they were undercover Soviet soldiers who had captured Indiana Jones and George McHale.[1]
A coaster from Atomic Cafe was among the coaster collection of S.E.A. member Jock Lindsey in Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar.[4]

Behind the scenes[]
In the junior novelization of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Jimmy Keegan and his friends start their car race from the Atomic Cafe,[3] while in the novelization they only pass by during the race with the convoy.[2] Both books calls the establishment as Atomic Café[2][3] despite in the film the sign indicates Atomic Cafe without the strees mark.[1]
