Bedford Police Department was the local law enforcement agency of Bedford, Connecticut.
History[]
In 1957, during the height of the Red Scare, officer James Waterhouse received a tip-off that Marshall College professor Indiana Jones was involved in Communist activity and successfully appealed to the Superior Court of Connecticut to have Indiana Jones' office searched.[1]
Soon after, Jones' office was ransacked by federal agents and although the university was pressured to fire him, the archaeologist was given an indefinite leave of absence with pay secured by dean Charles Stanforth at the cost of his own career.[2]
Jones attempted to leave town but his departure from Bedford was interrupted by Mutt Williams and the pair found themselves being pursued by undercover KGB operatives. Although one of two the Russian cars were stalled by their escape into the Marshall College Library, they broke off from the chase when they heard approaching police sirens.[2]
