In 1936, during the Nazi search for the Ark of the Covenant, an Arab servant attended to René Emile Belloq, the French archaeologist overseeing the dig, in his tent at Tanis.

Biography[]

In 1936, during the Nazis' search for the Ark of the Covenant at Tanis under the command of Colonel Herman Dietrich, the archaeologist René Emile Belloq utilized the services of an Arab man, who tended to him inside his tent, where Indiana Jones' partner Marion Ravenwood was being held captive.[1]

As there was no progress in finding the Well of the Souls where the Ark was held, Belloq went to his tent to question Ravenwood. The servant made the necessary preparations for his arrival, including food and wine, before being dismissed from the tent by Belloq along with a German guard.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Belloq's servant was played by an uncredited performer in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
