The Bering Strait is a sea strait that connects the Chukchi Sea (part of the Arctic Ocean) to the Bering Sea (part of the Pacific Ocean), and separates the easternmost portion of Asia from the westernmost portion of North America. It is named for Vitus Bering, the Danish-born Russian explorer.

In 1936, Indiana Jones, Marcus Brody, and Janice Le Roi traveled aboard a whaling ship through the strait, crossing from the Pacific to the Arctic, to reach the northern coast of Siberia, while on the trail of Friedrich von Hassell, who was trying to find the Tomb of the Gods.
