Former lighthouse keeper and merchant marine, Birdy Soames served in the 25th Frontiersman Battalion, Royal Fusiliers during World War I.[1]

Birdy Soames was portrayed by the late Freddie Jones in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.[1]
Jones is the father of actor Toby Jones, who later played Basil Shaw in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Interestingly, their characters have the same initials ("B.S.").
