The Corporal was a German who served as the driver of the Mercedes-Benz carrying Belloq, Dietrich and Toht that headed up the convoy taking the Ark of the Covenant from Tanis to Cairo. His driving skills kept the staff car ahead of the truck after Indiana Jones overtook it, but Jones finally rammed him off the road. After being yelled at by Belloq, he managed to get the car going again, but by the time they caught up to Jones at Cairo, he had hidden the truck in Omar's garage.
Behind the scenes
- The name "Blond Driver" comes from Lawrence Kasdan's script for the film.
- A goof in the film is that after the car was rammed off the road, the Corporal flinches before Belloq even hits him.
