The British Army is the principal land warfare force of the United Kingdom, a part of the British Armed Forces along with the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.
The army was a major military force during both world wars. During World War I, the UK was allied with France, Russia and later the United States of America. For the second conflict, the UK, France, Soviet Union and the USA stood up against Nazi Germany and its allies.
American and Soviet tensions grew in the aftermath, almost leading to a nuclear war. The British Army supported the US in various military operations.
History[]
In 1935, British Army troops comprised mostly of colonial soldiers under the command of Captain Philip Blumburtt unleashed an assault on a group of Thuggee archers via rifle fire, saving the life of American archaeologist Indiana Jones as he climbed the remains of a recently destroyed rope bridge.[1]
During World War II, after an aerial attack on a Nazi Stronghold in France in 1944, the British Army assisted with an attack on a Nazi plunder train carrying a stolen artifacts.[2]
A unit was deployed to occupy the remains of the destroyed train after it was derailed in the French Alps and subsequently destroyed on the bridge when it was bombed by the RAF. Soldiers had raised the Union Jack on the train by the time Indiana Jones and Basil Shaw approached with part of the Antikythera.[2]
