The Bronze Age is an archaeological and anthropological period that lasted from roughly 3200 BC to 1200 BC. The Bronze Age is characterized by the widespread use of bronze—an alloy of copper and tin—for tools, weapons, and ceremonial objects, marking a major technological and cultural advance from the preceding Stone Age.
During the Bronze Age, early civilizations flourished across Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the Aegean, with trade networks extending across continents. The period saw the rise of complex societies, the development of writing systems, and the construction of monumental architecture.
History[]
Archaeologist Indiana Jones found an out-of-place Bronze Mirror in the Vatican in 1937 from the Bronze Age.[1]
In October 1938. Jones visited Ras Shamra, a town near the site of the the ancient Bronze Age city of Ugarit, whose first establishment dates back to around 6000 BC - placing it alongside Ur and Eridu as a cradle of civilization.[2] In April 1941, Malcolm and Indiana Jones formed part of an expedition in Greece excavating a Bronze Age Achaean royal tomb.[3]
For Jones and his colleagues, Bronze Age sites were more than just treasure troves; they represented key insights into early human civilization. The island of Gotland held more than 400 cairns from the Bronze Age.[4]
