Castel Sant'Angelo is a landmark of Rome, Italy.
History[]
Around 1937, Castel Sant'Angelo was used by the clergy of Vatican City. In order to retrieve a stolen Cat Mummy, archaeologist Indiana Jones infiltrated the castle on the night of October 22 to gain access to the Vatican as the Holy See had been occupied by Blackshirts. However, the Fascist presence also extended to Castel Sant'Angelo, forcing Jones to navigate the structure by more unconventional means to reach the Passetto di Borgo and reunite with Father Antonio Morello, his old veteran friend from World War I.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Originally commissioned as a mausoleum by Roman Emperor Hadrian, the real Castel Sant'Angelo has fulfilled various roles throughout the history of the Italian capital.
The structure has been a museum since 1925, with its function embellished for the 1937 setting of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
