- "And after that inspiring address by Sylvia Pankhurst of the East London Federation of Suffragettes, I call on Maisie Kemp to speak to us on the important subject of equal pay for equal work!"
- ―Chairwoman[src]
The Chairwoman was a leader in the women's suffrage movement in London.
In May 1916, she presided over a large meeting of the National Union of Women's Suffragette Societies, which included the East London Suffragettes. After keynote speaker Sylvia Pankhurst gave her speech on continuing the cause during the war, the Chairwoman introduced Maisie Kemp to speak on the topic of equal pay.
