Coatlicue was an Aztec goddess of the Earth. She is displayed as a seated female figure with scaly limbs of an iguana and a skull-like head.
A stone panel depicted her in the Tepotzteco Pyramid; her jaw hid a mechanism revealing a tunnel.
Indiana Jones encountered a statue of her likeness in Mexico in the mid-1930s.
