Colonel is a military rank. The term is often used to denote an individual with its equivalent rank in the Wehrmacht, Oberst; in the Schutzstaffel, Standartenführer; or in the Soviet Special Forces, Polkovnik.
Around summer 1943, working for the OSS, Indiana Jones was promoted from major to light colonel, a move Jones simultaneously credited to and blamed on friend and MI6 counterpart George McHale.[1] By World War II's end, Jones was a full colonel, the rank he retired with.[2]
