A blue van was used by the Central Intelligence Agency and Jürgen Voller in 1969 New York City, in their efforts to secure the Antikythera.[1]. It was disguised as a van owned by the Con Edison energy corporation, and the agents onboard were disguised as electrical workers.
History[]
In 1969, CIA Agent Mason, along with Klaber and Hauke, captured Indiana Jones at Hunter College and brought him onboard their Con Edison van. However, the van was caught in traffic as a result of the Apollo 11 ticker tape parade and ensuing counter-protest against the Vietnam War. The agents removed the captive Jones from the van and attempted to escort him on foot, but he eventually escaped in the crowd.
Behind the scenes[]
The use of the Con Edison van is similar to the 1975 film Three Days of the Condor, where undercover CIA agents are also seen operating from a nondescript civilian utilities van while hunting a former government agent in the streets of New York.[2] That movie was also a specific reference to John Williams by James Mangold for the soundtrack of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.[3]
