Cuzco is a city in Peru. It was the capital of the Inca empire, and in it were many temples and palaces, including the Temple of the Sun, which was completly covered with a thin layer of gold leaf. In 1534, the illiterate conquestador, Francisco Pizarro. He wrote: "This city is the greatest and the finest ever seen in this country or anywhere in the Indies... It's main attraction is Machu Picchu, which lies near the city.
