Dan Fogelman (born February 19, 1976) is an American writer and producer.
Born on River Vale, New Jersey, Fogelman started his career in the mid-2000s and early 2010s by creating the television sitcom Like Family writing screenplays for comedy films such as Cars (as well as its sequel), Fred Claus, Bolt, Tangled and Crazy, Stupid, Love. However, it was in 2012 when Fogelman grew in prominence with his film The Guilt Trip and his television sitcom The Neighbors. He then achieved greater notoriety as creator of This Is Us, which aired on TV from 2016 to 2022.
In May 2019, MakingStarWars and MakingIndy editor Jason Ward credited unnamed sources with word that Dan Fogelman had been hired to write the fifth Indiana Jones picture after Jonathan Kasdan reputedly exited the project due to his script based on the Nazi gold train legend being rejected, with Fogelman's script coming up with a different premise.[1] /Film corroborated the claims save for Kasdan's supposed MacGuffin, speculating that Fogelman may have been part of an unofficial writers room for the film Kasdan and producer Frank Marshall had assembled months prior.[2] In 2021, director James Mangold stated that he was writing a new script with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth.[3] Nevertheless, the Writers Guild of America listed Fogelman, alongside Kasdan, as having provided "Additional Literary Material: (not on-screen)" for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.[4]
