Disney+

Disney+ is an American streaming service for on-demand televised and cinematic content from The Walt Disney Company, including brands acquired retroactively. It launched on November 12, 2019 and hosts a dedicated collection hub for Lucasfilm Ltd. productions as well as themed Star Wars groupings.

Paramount Pictures retained distribution rights for the first four Indiana Jones movies and the re-edit of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series when The Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilm Ltd. in 2012 but an arrangement was made to bring the catalog to Disney+ in 2023.

In early December 2022, a landing page for the fifth Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which included the general release of its first trailer, was added to the US service in anticipation of the eventual streaming release on the platform.

On May 16, 2023 Disney and Lucasfilm Ltd. announced that the first four movies and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series would arrive on the streaming service on May 31.^[1]

A television show based on the franchise has been reported to be in the works for the platform as well,^[2] with Indy 5 director James Mangold looped in on some of the discussion although he has not indicated any involvement past his work on the movie. However, by March 2023, Lucasfilm was rumored to have not moved forward with any plans to keep focus on the Star Wars franchise.^[3]

On October 1, 2024, the first four Indiana Jones films were removed from Disney+ due to Paramount Pictures retained the distribution rights.^[4]
