Douglas Slocombe (February 10, 1913 – February 22, 2016)[1] served as cinematographer for Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
As he retired after completing Last Crusade, Janusz Kamiński filled the role for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Prior to production, Kamiński and director Steven Spielberg viewed the first three Indiana Jones films, in order to study Slocombe's style, which Kamiński later tried to emulate during shooting.[2]
Prior to the Indiana Jones films, Slocombe was an established cinematographer and had photographed the India sequence of Spielberg's 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
