The father[1] of the Austrian archaeologist[3] and Olympic swimmer[4] Elsa Schneider had, at some point in his life, a secretary named Elsa with whom he evidently got along so well, he decided to name his daughter after her.[1]
In 1938, when criticizing his father Henry Walton Jones, Senior for his relationship with the younger Schneider, American archaeologist Indiana Jones almost said his father was old enough to be her father before retracting and going even further.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure, if the player manages to prevent Elsa Schneider's death at the Temple of the Sun, Elsa will reveal that her father had a secretary named Elsa after Indiana Jones and Marcus Brody indicate that they were named after family pets.[1]

- ↑ Indiana Jones nearly tells his father Henry Walton Jones, Senior that he is old enough to be Elsa Schneider's father before changing his mind and saying her grandfather in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which takes place in 1938. Indiana Jones: The Ultimate Guide sets Henry's birth in 1872, so if Indy assumes his father is older than Elsa's, Elsa's father must have been born after that year.
