Emerelda Vasquez was the leader of a band of pirates in 1936.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1936, Simon Katanga and Indiana Jones were confronted by a crew of pirates led by Emerelda Vasquez while on an expedition to the Aleutian Islands to find an ancient Chinese temple. Emerelda commandeered the Bantu Wind, stole the Chinese treasure and demolished the temple, leaving Indy, Katanga and ship's crew for dead.
Katanga's team was able to sneak aboard and assume control of Emerelda's submarine, and at the end of a naval battle that ensued, Vasquez was killed and Katanga was once again captain of the Bantu Wind.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Emerelda Vasquez's forename is similar to the name 'Esmeralda', the Spanish word for 'emerald'.
