Empire is a British film magazine first published in May 1989.
For the 25th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark in 2006, Empire released a special subscriber cover of the magazine which utilized Richard Amsel's movie poster.[1]
That October, Karen Allen discussed about her experiences playing Marion Ravenwood in the film, revealing that she came up with her own backstory for her character that director Steven Spielberg was quoted as feeling it to be "an entirely different movie", including unknown details like what happened to Marion's mother or how did she spend time with Indiana Jones in Nepal.[2]
Across April-May 2008, as part of the promotion for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Empire's website hosted a dedicated "Indy Month", thirty days of articles and features related to the Indiana Jones franchise.[3]
In 2017, readers voted Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Raiders of the Lost Ark as the 86th and 7th greatest movies of all time, respectively.[4]
In 2022, in the run up the release of the then-untitled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the magazine was given exclusive first access to images and interviews for the movie.[5]
