Endor was a moon located in a galaxy far, far away from the Earth's solar system.
Geography[]
Endor was a moon with forests visited by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca sometime before their landing on Earth around the 19th century while escaping through hyperspace from enemy craft. After exiting the Millennium Falcon Solo remarked how the forested area where they had landed reminded him to Endor's forests before being ambushed by the natives.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Endor was mentioned in "Into the Great Unknown", a non-canon comic book story written by W. Haden Blackman and published by Dark Horse Comics in the nineteenth issue of Star Wars Tales. The comic portrays a crossover between the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.[1] Endor originated in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, the last installment of the Star Wars original trilogy, providing the battleground for the film's climatic Battle of Endor.[2] Han Solo's comments in the story of the Earth's forests reminding to those of Endor's[1] may have been a reference to how Northern California forests where used to shoot the Endor scenes in Return of the Jedi.[3]
