Revision as of 13:41, 17 July 2017

The Expanded Adventures is the term used to encompasses all officially licensed Indiana Jones spin-off material beyond the four theatrical movies, like novels, comics, video games, television series, etc.

A variation of the term "Expanded Universe" (a term also used for the universe beyond the movies of George Lucas' Star Wars film series), it was coined for Indiana Jones by Lucasfilm Ltd.'s Indycron continuity database administrator Leland Chee on his blog dated September 10, 2007.[1]

The Expanded Adventures are actually older than the films themselves, as the first film's novelization was published two months before the film's release.

On April 25, 2014, it was announced that Star Wars Expanded Universe would now be no more canonical and it would be named Star Wars Legends to allow The Walt Disney Company to explore new storylines without conflicts. Wheter a similar restructuring will happen with the Indiana Jones' Expanded Adventures or not has yet to be revealed.[2]
