The Eye of the Fates was a large crystal said in legend to be a divine gift to three blind women of the Far East which possessed the ability to predict the future.

In August 1937, Indiana Jones recovered the Shield of Perseus from waters off the Greek coast. It contained a fragmented message believed to have been etched by Perseus claiming that he had stolen the Eye from the Fates. Assisted by the son of a museum curator, Jones searched for the crystal using clues from the shield to its location.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Eye of the Fates was created by Richard Wenk for the Indiana Jones and the Eye of the Fates Find Your Fate gamebook. Due to the open-ended nature of the book, the role of the Eye changes depending on the choices the reader makes. Versions of the story range from the artifact being recovered (Either by Indy or by the Nazis (delivered to Hitler by the latter)), undiscovered, destroyed, and in one instance, little more than bait as part of an elaborate plot by Claude Belloq seeking to lure Indiana Jones into a trap to avenge the death of his brother, René.
