The First Time was the legendary period when the ancient Egyptian gods visited the Earth.
In 1934, during their explorations beneath the Great Sphinx and Great Pyramid, Indiana Jones and Sallah found a number of ancient papyrus scrolls including one from circa 1300 BC, during the reign of Rameses II, which claimed that the site where they stood, "old beyond reckoning", was where the First Time had taken place.
Sallah wondered aloud if the First Time could be more than a fable but Jones wasn't interested in debating theology, advising his friend that the ancient Egyptians viewed reality differently: for them, the pharaohs were descendants of the gods.
