Franz was a Nazi soldier involved in Operation Großer Kreis.
Biography[]
In October 1937, Franz was a Nazi soldier who formed part of Third Reich Special Antiquities Collection agent Emmerich Voss' delegation to Vatican City to retrieve the Holy See's incomplete set of the Great Circle artifacts under Prime Minister Benito Mussolini's authorization.[1]
Afterwards, on their way back to Voss' zeppelin anchored over St. Peter's Basilica, Franz and another soldier took an elevator to reach the dome when the machine briefly stalled. The other Nazi teased the God-fearing Franz that divine intervention wanted him to remain behind. Franz blamed "shoddy Italian engineering" to which his counterpart pointed out that Leonardo da Vinci was Italian but Franz was ignorant of who the acclaimed inventor even was.[1]
Meanwhile, tethered to the underside of the elevator by his bullwhip, Indiana Jones followed the pair to the top of the shaft chasing Voss, his archaeological rival.[1]
