- "These soldiers seem to have been personally assigned to Magnus. What are they really looking for?"
- ―Indiana Jones[src]
The German Commandos were an elite group of German soldiers sent to Panama in 1939 to recover artifacts from the Mayan Temple and to help Magnus Völler.
History[]
In 1939, Indiana Jones encountered the German Commandos in the Mayan Temple. They were well equipped, armed with Luger P08s and MP-40s. They rappelled into the temple to try and halt Indy's progress. There were two varieties of them.
- Grunts: They were the standard and most common troops in the unit and wore gray uniforms with caps, black boots and red armbands. They were equipped with MP-40s, Luger P08s and often relied on their fists as well.
- Officers: A single officer was met alongside a Grunt and Magnus when Indy retrieved Charles Jacob Kingston's notes. He and the others got trapped in the temple when Indy stepped on a pressure plate which caused the door to the observatory to close while Indy just managed to escape. He had a green uniform with a red armband and was equipped with a MP-40.
The commandos were no match for Jones who defeated many of them as he went through the temple.
Behind the scenes[]
The German Commandos are only appear in Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for the PS2 and Wii. They are just regular German soldiers on the DS and PSP versions.
Dirk Meyer, Christian Mey, Jens Münchow, Torsten Münchow and Michael Schernthaner provided there voices for the Commandos.
The commandos are a fictional unit but likely based of the Waffen SS or the Fallschirmjägers.
The Grunts and Officers have the exact same uniforms as the German Desert Commandos Indy encounters in the Sudan Temple in Sudan. More Grunt and Officer uniforms appear in Istanbul, Nepal and the Odin later in the game as well.
