German East Africa was a colony in the eastern portion of Africa, run by Germany from the late 1800's until 1919. Its territory consists of the modern day nations of Burundi, Rwanda, and Tanganyika (mainland Tanzania).

During World War I, Belgian and British forces, along with colonial troops invaded the colony, hoping to stop the German efforts led by Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck, who sought to cause great distraction to Allied forces with his smaller band of German and Askari troops practicing raids and guerrilla warfare.

Adventures in German East Africa

In late 1916, Indiana Jones and Remy Baudouin were assigned to Belgian forces fighting in German East Africa. After a battle where Jones was shot, but miraculously unharmed, and then captured a German machine gun position, Jones received a promotion. Jones and Major Boucher were then assigned to lead an expedition out of German East Africa across the Congo basin to Port-Gentil to retrieve a wayward shipment of arms.
