(Don Stansauk passed away in 2004 like Pat Roach? Coincidence? I Think Not! Really, this mystery has yet to be resolved. Why Hidalgo doesn't ask Harrison Ford or Steven Spielberg? Maybe they have the answer :))

"Who are you?"
The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on canonical information, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

Please see the reasons for this title in the "Behind the scenes" section below, and/or the relevant discussion on the talk page.

A gong striker was employed at Club Obi Wan in Shanghai in 1935. He was a large, bald-headed man dressed in black harem pants.

The tall, heavyset attendant rang the gong at the start of Willie Scott's rendition of Anything Goes. Later, after Indiana Jones had been poisoned, Kao Kan appeared wielding a machine gun and the performer fled for his life as gunfire fired at Jones headed in his direction.

Behind the scenes

The gong striker was most likely played by the late Don Stansauk in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

According to the article "50 Fascinating 'Facts' About Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" in Indiana Jones: The Official Magazine 3, Pat Roach played the role of the gong striker, as well as the Thuggee assassin in Pankot Palace. However, The Complete Making of Indiana Jones reveals that stuntman Bill Reed (who is listed in the film's credits) portrayed the gong striker, and the Thuggee assassin has been held identified in online discussion as wrestler Don Stansauk, though neither of these have been confirmed.

Regarding the identity of the gong striker, Lucasfilm's Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo wrote:

I asked Kathleen Kennedy about the gong ringer. She couldn't recall so she texted Frank Marshall. From the sound of it, Frank started digging. He thinks it's Stansauk. No definitive answer, but they all seemed to agree it wasn't Roach.

Frank said "Stansauk rings a bell (pun intended)"

Interestingly, in LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, the gong striker is identical to the German Mechanic, one of the character that Pat Roach played in Raiders of the Lost Ark, possibly supporting the theory that Roach also played the gong striker.
