Greenland is an island country located between the Arctic and Atlantic Ocean.
Adventures in Greenland[]
In 1939, Jones headed an expedition off the coast of Greenland at the behest of the American government. There to investigate a large iceberg which contained a trapped viking longship, the American team found itself opposite a Nazi expedition looking to retrieve a UFO also encassed in the ice.[1]
Later that year, in May, Jones and Sophia Hapgood flew in a seaplane (rented for them by the wealthy Hapgoods) from Long Island to Iceland. On thee way, they stopped near Greenland, radioed Reykjavik to arrange land transport, and resupplied. Eskimos arrived on kayaks and offered them gifts. However, because of the heavy weight, they had to drop some of their fuel and load to get the craft out of the calm waters.[2]
