The Hagia Sophia (Aya Sophia), sometimes called St. Sophia, is a Byzantine-era holy site in Istanbul. Built under the orders of Justinian I in the sixth century as a Christian church, it became a mosque for Islam during the long reign of the Ottomans.

Indiana Jones took the opportunity to visit Hagia Sophia in 1927 while passing through Istanbul on his way to Mount Ararat.[1]
