Henrys photo

The Photograph of Henry and Indy

When Indy and Marcus Brody arrives at the Princeton-home of Henry Sr. in 1938, Indy finds an old photograph of himself together with his father, taken many years earlier.

Behind the scenes

The exact year the photograph was taken is not known. However, the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade-novelization states that it was taken the year following Anna Jones' death, which would place it at 1913. This is impossible, because Indy is obviously younger in this picture than he was in the Last Crusade-prologue. The explanation for this mistake seems to be that the information given in the novelization places Anna's death earlier than what was later established.

Indy and Henry looks as if they're about the same age as they are in the first five chapters of The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, when the characters are played by Corey Carrier and Lloyd Owen. It's interesting to note, however, that neither of the two actors are the ones portraying the characters in the photograph. Obviously they had not been cast yet, since The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles didn't start until 1992. The Henry in the photograph, however, looks a lot like a younger version of Sean Connery.
