Hotel du Nil was a hotel in Alexandria, Egypt which was popular with archaeologists during the early 20th cemtury.
History[]
On the hunt for the Peacock's Eye diamond in the wake of World War I, Indiana Jones and Remy Baudouin found accomodation at the Hotel du Nil where Jones was thrilled to discover that Howard Carter, who he had first encountered a decade earlier, was staying there during his efforts to find the tomb of Tutankhamun.[1]
Jones and Remy Baudouin later met up with Carter and E. M. Forster where the latter pair unwittingly assisted in deciphering a clue to the location of the diamond. Remembering Jones's childhood desire to become an archaeologist and still grateful for his assistance at the burial site of Kha in the Valley of the Kings, Carter almost tempted him to join his excavation but Baudouin reminded his friend that their 'business trip' was more pressing so Jones reluctantly declined the offer.[1]
