Hovan 99 was a moon located in a galaxy far, far away from the Earth's solar system.
Geography[]
Sometime around the 19th century, Hovan 99 was visited by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca. However, since leaving the moon, the navigational computer of the Millennium Falcon, their starship, started working erratically so, when a squadron of enemy fighters started chasing the Falcon, it went into hyperspace and sent them to Earth.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Hovan 99 was mentioned in "Into the Great Unknown", a non-canon comic book story written by W. Haden Blackman and published by Dark Horse Comics in the nineteenth issue of Star Wars Tales. The comic portrays a crossover between the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.[1] While the story isn't canonical to either franchise, the moon and its system were later canonized within the Star Wars Legends continuity in Jason Fry's StarWars.com article series Star Wars: The Essential Atlas Online Companion.[2]
