Howard S. was one of several people who had a name tag at the lost and found of Jock Lindsey's hangar bar.

History[]

Following the year 1955, Howard S. was a patron of aviator and S.E.A. member Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar in the town of The Springs, Florida.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The usage of "Howard S." at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is likely a reference to Howard Stark, the father of the Marvel Comics superhero Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Both Marvel and Lucasfilm are owned by The Walt Disney Company, and the attraction does include a nod to Iron Man by displaying The Iron Fireman logo with the "fire" part missing. The real Disney Springs hosts the Super Hero HQ, a shop in the 1950s neighbourhood of West Side which is an outpost for S.H.I.E.L.D., an organization which Howard co-founded.

A World War II-era depiction of Howard Stark was notably featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) directed by Joe Johnston whose WW2 superhero feature The Rocketeer (1991) is more explicitly referenced in the Hangar Bar. Johnston had previously worked as Visual Effects artist for Raiders of the Lost Ark and referenced the film in Captain America.
