"Over the centuries this city has been the capital of several empires, including Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman"
Indiana Jones[src]

Istanbul (once known as Constantinople and Byzantium before that) is a major city in Turkey. Located on the Bosphorous, the city straddles the strait that separates Europe and Asia.

As Byzantium and later Constantinople, it was the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire from 1453 to its dissolution in 1923. Since then, it has remained as the biggest and more developed city in the Republic of Turkey.

Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "If the earth was one country, Istanbul would be its capital."

Adventures in Istanbul[]

Istanbul

The city during WW1

The Knights Templar attacked Constantinople and took several treasures, including a chalice later used as a False Grail at the Temple of the Sun in Hatay.[1]

Indiana Jones visited Constantinople in June 1914.[2] He returned to the city towards the end of the war in 1918 while working as a spy.[3]

Beneath Istanbul was the Palace of Belisarius, a homage to Poseidon. Indiana Jones travelled to the site in 1935 to collect the third piece of the Mirror of Dreams. He was assisted by Mei Ying as he fought Turkish Mercenaries and German Soldiers. He discovered that the palace guarded by a Kraken and he defeated it before claiming the third piece. While he was there he also found the Piri Reis Manuscript, Ottoman Seal, Delian Proclamation and four Coins, the Wine Coin, the Kraken Coin, the Trident Coin and the Seahorse Coin.[4]

In 1939, Indiana Jones visited Istanbul with Maggie O'Malley in search of the Shepherds. His friend Yasin helped him start his journey. He found German soldiers and German secret agents working for Magnus Völler as he fought through the city and met an elephant at one point as well.[5]
