Jasmine el-Kahir was one of Sallah el-Kahir's nine children. In 1934, during one of Indiana Jones' visits, she participated in a card trick performed by the young magician Mystery Maskelyne.[1]
Two years later, Jasmine and her siblings saved Jones from being killed by surrounding the archaeologist as a human shield to protect him from the French mercenary René Emile Belloq and his men at the Marhala Bar.[2]
Behind the scenes[]

Jasmine made her first appearance in Raiders of the Lost Ark as one of the several unnamed children of Sallah.[2] Her name was given in Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Sphinx, which didn't specified who was among them. The novel, set in 1934, states that she is 4 years old,[1] which would make her six by the times of Raiders.[2] Presumably, Jasmine is one of the youngest and shorter among Sallah's daughters.
In Campbell Black's novelization, Indy relates to Sallah that the last time they met he had only three children,[3] but in Secret of the Sphinx, Indy meets Sallah when he already has nine offspring.[1]
