Josette was a Haitian woman who rented out rooms in Port-au-Prince. Marie Arnoux considered Madam Josette to be an honest person who kept clean rooms.
In 1943, Arnoux recommended that her new clients, Indiana Jones and George McHale rent rooms from Josette instead of staying at any local hotel, due to spies, and sent Alain Arnoux to guide them to her lodgings. While staying at Josette's, Jones and McHale got their clothes laundered.
