The KGB, officially known as the Komitet gosudarstvennoy bezopasnosti (or Committee for State Security), was the national security agency of the Soviet Union. They served as the country's secret police and espionage service from 1954 to 1991.
Adventures with the KGB
After World War II, Joseph Stalin had directed the KGB to develop programs to experiment with the unknown potential of the human mind. Irina Spalko was handpicked by Stalin to oversee psychic warfare research. Spalko also served in the KGB's Science and Technology Directorate. Spalko's work led her to search for the Roswell remains and the Crystal Skull of Akator.
In 1957, the KGB took possession of Indiana Jones' journal in Peru, about the time of the events of the discovery of Akator.
KGB Agents had encountered Indiana Jones during his adventures:
- Irina Spalko
- Igor Barkov
- Elvira Kandinsky
- Several other agents, whose identities were redacted in a memo from the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation
In his journal, Jones believed that Antonin Dovchenko may have also been a KGB operative. In his last entry before losing the journal to the KGB, Jones noted that he feared that the KGB and other intelligence agencies were after his journal.
