On August 21, 1943, Indiana Jones with Petryk, Zacharias, Jane and Jill flew a hot air balloon which included a stopover in Kansas City. There, Indy was talking with Petryk and the two twins about the Anasazi when he noticed a mysterious person who he then followed. The man turned out to be a henchman of Malone who was looking out for police that could disturb the meeting of his gang. After Indy overheard that Malone had hired a pilot to shoot down the hot air balloon, he sabotaged the plane then returned to the others.
